I am a member of the DeCunha family. My mother was lrene Leonora DeCunha. She was the senior-most member of the school alumni in attendance at the centennial celebrations and, as such, was asked to cut the centennial cake.
I was a boarder for 4 years and then a day scholar and lived just across the street from MHS in 72 Cantonments. GHS was my second home since that’s where I spent all my waking hours, from 7 AM study class to study class at 7 pm. I can still name all my teachers from kindergarten A to Senior Cambridge. I made many lifelong friends and am still in touch with Sashi Kant Misra (Chappie). My Principals were Miss Edna May Hutchens and Miss Jessie A Bragg. I was always very proud of my school and grateful for the excellent education it had to offer.
I went on to teach in Sherwood College, Naini Tal, and Bishop Cotton School, Simla. My wife Yvonne and I have been living in Alberta, Canada for the past 59 years.
