GENERAL INFORMATION REGARDING SCHOOL RULES AND DISCIPLINE

  1. ATTENDANCE: Regular attendance and punctuality are required of each and every student enrolled in the school. The minimum requirement of attendance is 75% in order to get promotion to the next class or to sit for the Council Examinations.
  2. No student should be absent without a leave application. The full name of the student, class (section) and period of leave sanction must be mentioned in the application. The application must be signed by the parent/guardian.
  3. If a student is absent on account of illness, a proper medical certificate should be submitted along with the application. Stu­dents suffering from or exposed to any infectious disease will not be allowed to attend school unless a doctor’s certificate is sub­mitted stating the period of quarantine is over.
  4. ABSENCE ON RE-OPENING OF SCHOOL: The name of students on the school roll as on the last working day of the session and 30th June will remain in the Attendance register for three days in the new session and July from the date school re-opens. If a student is absent and no leave application is submitted within these three days, the name will be struck off the school roll at the end of the third day, and the student will be re-admitted on payment of en­trance fee as re-admission fee provided the seat is vacant.
  5. CONTINUOUS ABSENCE DURING THE SESSION: If a student is absent for ten days continuously without a leave application the name will be struck off the roll and the student will be re-admitted on the payment of Entrance fee as re-admission fee provided the seat is vacant. It will not be the responsibility of the school to inquire from parents whether the student is return­ing or not.
  6. During school hours no student is allowed to leave the school premises without the permission of the Principal and without the Parent escort only in case of an emergency.
  7. BOOKS AND STATIONERY: Students should have all the required text books and stationery at the beginning of the school year and these must be brought regu­larly to the school. All books and exercise books should be cov­ered with brown paper and have the name of the student, class, section, subject and year clearly marked on them.
  8. Parents/Guardians are not permitted to interrupt classes in order to see teachers during school hours. Appointment must be made through the Principal’s office.
  9. PAYMENT OF SCHOOL FEES: Instructions regarding payment of School Fees are clearly stated in the Bill Book which is issued to each student at the beginning of the new School Year in April. It will be the responsibility of the Parents/Guardians to see that fees are deposited as per rules printed in the Bill Book. All fines accruing due to late payments must be made. There will be no cancellation of the same.
  10. SAFEGUARD OF SCHOOL PROPERTY: Destroying of school property is strictly prohibited and will be considered as gross misconduct. Any such defaulters will be liable for severe disciplinary action – such as replacing the item, a heavy fine and suspension from school.
  11. We expect students to take care of their own books and belong­ings as the school will not be held responsible for the loss of any items belonging to the students.
  12. Students are expected to bring their own tiffin and not more than `50/- for exigencies.
  13. Parents will be held solely responsible and will be summoned by the school office for repeated misconduct pertaining to:
    1. Incomplete and untidy uniform.
    2. Forgetting to bring school books
    3. Failure to get the Progress Report and Diary signed by the parent.
    4. Coming late to school.
    5. Habitual lack of interest in school work, homework and extracurricular activities.
    6. Misbehaviour of any kind within and without the school premises.
  14. STRICTLY PROHIBITED: Students are not permitted to bring to the school the following items
    1. Mobile Phones
    2. Camera and Photographs
    3. Perfumes, Sprays and other cosmetics
    4. CDs , Ipods, etc.
    5. Magazines and Novels.
    6. Pan masala, tobacco, alcohol, sheesh pen / equipment and any other forms of addictive commodities
    7. Games implements.
    8. Slam books and other albums.
    9. Huge sums of money.
    10. Any other undesirable material especially matches fire- crackers, other explosives and Gulal and chemical powders and liquids. There will be surprise checkings, and if a child is found in possession of any of the above, it will be confiscated and he/she will be liable for a severe punishment, suspension or even expulsion.
  15. PRIVATE TUITIONS: Private tuitions by school teachers is strictly discouraged and prohibited. However should your ward require extra special attention in weak areas of learning, you must bring it to the atten­tion of the Principal before approaching any teacher of the school, so that a viable arrangement could be made to help your child. However, no such arrangement will be made available after September 30th. Enrolment in the Methodist High School implies and requires, on the part of the parents and students, full cooperation and compli­ance with the rules and regulations of the institution.
  16. Irregular attendance, unwarranted absenteeism, lack of authentic leave application, habitual lack of interest in school work, stealing, misconduct even outside the school premises, willful repeated breaches of school regulations are sufficient reasons for the dismissal of the child from school.
  17. Pupils are responsible to the School Authorities not only for their conduct in school but also their general behaviour outside. A report of objectionable conduct on the part of any pupil will make him / her liable for disciplinary action. Hence misbehaviour in streets and conveyance is liable to the same action.
  18. The Principal in the interest of the school and without assigning any reason, may ask parent / guardian to withdraw his child / ward should the child’s conduct, behaviour or influence in the Principal’s opinion be in any way detrimental to the common good of the school and its smooth running.
  19. All are expected to speak in English in school. Hindi to be spoken during the Hindi lessons only.
  20. Punishment: The Principal is much averse to the use of punishment, but reserves the right to use this if, in her opinion, it is necessary in the general interest of the school, discipline or child’s character.
  21. Appearance in the Internal Assessments and Semester examinations is compulsory. Non-appearance for any assessment will be marked as Zero. Students using unfair means will be disqualified in that particular paper and the pupil will obtain a zero for the same.
  22. Continuous Assessment of the pupils work throughout the year will determine the promotion of the child. There will be no alterations in the final decision. Promotions for classes IX and XI will be based on regulations as per the Council.
  23. To address issues of indiscipline and bad behaviour there will be a committee made up of Parent, Educators, Ex-Students and Board-members. Their decisions of matters relating with above will be final and binding.
